As everyone told me would happen, he is now getting into anything and everything that’s not nailed down (and some things that are). He’s no longer at all interested in any of his toys, he just wants to crawl around and destroy things – pull papers off tables or try to figure out how to make the TV work or what the button on the front of the computer tower does – noooo! He’s so much more active, I do worry a little about him being as lean as he is so I am increasing his solids a little.
His nighttime routine has completely changed in the past couple of weeks – he changed it. I used to always try to nurse him before his solids dinner. Usually he wouldn’t nurse or if he would, it would be very brief, but I always offered as it was our first chance to reconnect at the end of a weekday. Well, now he’s SO busy he can’t even be bothered to try, he gets upset if you even act like you’re going there. So we just have his solids dinner, and then let him play for like an hour. Then he gets really tired, and THEN I nurse him, and he has been nursing so well and for so long at this time, that he almost falls completely asleep. No rocking, no songs, nothing. I put him in his crib and bam, he stays there, usually for around 3 hours. And he no longer sounds bewildered when he wakes up, just kind of whiny/hungry. So we’re still at like 3 nursing sessions a night after he goes to sleep, will try to get that back down to just 2 this weekend.
He’s just changing so FAST. When he “talks” now, he REALLY wants to be communicating something, not just making noise, and he’s visibly upset when he’s not understood. I feel like any day now he’s going to just march into the kitchen saying, “I TOLD YOU, I DON’T WANT LENTILS AND RICE AGAIN! BRING ME MY WATER CUP!”
